Waxman Adds 300 Pages to Energy Tax Bill at 3am

By Steve Everley on June 26, 2009 11:13 AM
Because 1,200 unread pages just isn't enough, Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA) rammed through another 300 pages in the form of a manager's amendment at 3am this morning.

Have any members of Congress been given the proper amount of time to read through this amendment, much less take the time to properly analyze its impacts?  And what about the bill itself, which ballooned to 1,200 pages earlier this week?

It would appear that Nancy Pelosi and Chairman Waxman, who have been strong arming other moderate Democrats into supporting the bill, simply don't want to give members of Congress time to understand what they will be voting on.

After all, if they did read it, they would find out that they were voting for some pretty ridiculous measures, in addition to a massive energy tax.

Be sure to call your representative and urge them to vote against this devastating legislation...and be sure to ask them if they've read it!

UPDATE: Newt was on Neal Boortz's radio show this morning talking about the 300 page amendment that nobody has read.  Listen to the interview here:

Today I faxed 17 congressmen, called every Rep in CA and some out of state that were on the committee. It would have not been easy if I had not found a great little book with everyones phone, fax, email and commitees. I found this from an old boss who attended all sorts of political fundraisers. It's only about $20.00 called Congress at your fingertips. I highly recommend it. The new printing has just come out for the 111th Congress 1st session 2009. You can order by phone703-550-9500. The rate this congress is going it will be worn out in 6 months. This book has been great!! Call and let them know how you feel.

so much for transparency ,lol. no doubt it had plenty added to it that they wanted to hide. They rammed it thru congress so now we have to let the senators know what we think about this , we have one last hope to stop this. I have already emailed my senator. i will email every senator before it gets there to be voted upon. When it comes to passing this stuff all of them represent all of us and its time to let them know we are watching and we are not happy with what is going on. I also emailed my congressman Ethridge who voted for the cap and trade and informed him I would now be on a mission from now till the next election to make sure the people who can vote for him know how he just added a new massive tax on all of us. He will not get my familys votes and my mission is to send this good ole boy back home for good.

There is no way to "fix" cap and trade. It is impossible to collect co2 without expending large amounts of energy. The laws of thermodynamics allow you to calculate the amount of energy required. Therefore if you collect co2 the price of energy that is sold to the public will be more costly in order to recover the cost of collecting the co2.

So, if you believe that co2 causes global warming then you are also supporting a costly tax on the public no matter what the bill's provisions are. The point is go by the science!! not someone's belief. It does not matter who said it, what matters is what the data proves! I must point out that the data has evolved and there is now no evidence to support the claim that co2 is causing the global temperature to rise.

You cannot have your cake and eat it too. Or there is no free lunch. If you think you can repeal the laws of thermodynamics then you are more powerful than mother nature. It ain't goin to happen!!

Does anyone know if the insanity included in the first draft back in April of Waxman-Markey is still in the final bill? The insanity I'm talking about was the allowance for citizens/companies/interest groups/foreign entities to sue the US govt or US companies for any perceived past/present/future damages they felt they'd been subjected to due to global warming. It was a big deal, then I didn't hear a word about it once the bill was passed in the House. As insane as the logic is behind cap & tax...that lawsuit clause took the cognitive dissonance to entirely new level!!!!
