CNN Misrepresents Energy Tax With New Poll

By Steve Everley on October 27, 2009 10:26 AM
CNN.jpgA new CNN poll on support for cap and trade obscures the job-killing truth about such a system and paints a rosy picture of a flawed energy policy.

The poll suggests that 60% of Americans support a cap and trade system in America, no doubt an attempt to create momentum for the energy tax in the Senate.  Hearings on the Kerry-Boxer bill start today.

The question most notably did not mention the fact that cap and trade will kill jobs, which the Congressional Budget Office confirmed a few weeks ago.  The Heritage Foundation estimates that cap and trade will kill over 1 million jobs per year.  The National Association of Manufacturers concluded that cap and trade would kill 2.4 million jobs by 2030.  The National Black Chamber of Commerce predicts that cap and trade will kill 1.5 million jobs as soon as 2015.

Even the left-leaning Brookings Institution says that cap and trade will kill jobs, most severely during its first decade of enactment.

There is also no mention of higher electricity prices.  But President Obama has said that under cap and trade electricity prices would "necessarily skyrocket," and his own budget director said last year that higher electricity prices are "essential to the success of a cap and trade program."

Would 60% of Americans support more job loss, especially with the unemployment rate currently near 10%?  Would they support higher energy prices during a recession?

Here was the question posed to 1,038 adults:
Under a proposal called "cap and trade," the federal government would limit the amount of greenhouse gases that companies could produce in their factories or power plants. If companies exceeded those limits, they would either pay a fine or pay money to other companies that produced smaller amounts of greenhouse gases. Would you favor or oppose this proposal?
Notice, too, that the question asked if people supported a system where companies would pay a fine to the government or pay money to other companies if they exceeded certain emissions limits.  This clearly isn't referring to the energy tax in the Senate or the House-passed version, because those bills will give away most of the permits to emit carbon dioxide.

In other words, many companies won't pay a dime to emit carbon dioxide, rendering the CNN poll meaningless in the context of the Kerry-Boxer cap and trade bill.

I firmly believe that Cap and Trade is a Hoax.
Remember, if just this one thing. "The Adversary has been given Great Powers to Deceive."
I believe in Conservatism, but when the Rights of Man are given over to falsehood and,the providence of our Creator are abolished, we are given over to worship the creation not the Creator.
I think this Climate Crisis came about the same way the Mortgage Crisis came about. Orchastrated! As was the election. Never before has one risen out of the crime Crime and Corruption of Politics to rule a Nation as we are seeing in this administration!
As the result of a myth, that was perpetrated by a man, that Man was the cause of Global Climate Change, not the influence of our Solar System. And the idea that some of the wealthy would be willing to pay extra money for a larger Carbon Footprint represented and furthered the concept of makeing us feel guilty for destroying the Planet that the Creator in his care has given us, that only the World Wide Control of Energy usage through Government Restriction, and Taxation could we save the Planet.
When the fear mongering of Global Warming was finally challenged, it was changed (as often they are) to Climate Crisis. This too has been proven to be a false assumption. However, as we know, and are seeing there is currently a Cap and Trade Energy Bill being promoted by this current administration. The impact this legislation will have on the American Industry & People will be devastating. The World Resources for Energy will be severly restricted. World Wide Food Production will fail bringing tens of millions to brink of starvation, energy costs will sky rocket causing Hospital closures, School closures, the basic cost of living and the price of food
will cause mass riots and on the dark city streets crime will run rampant.
That this agreement is being brought forward in Copenhagen with no more than conjecture, a proposition which is presumed to be real, true, or genuine, mostly based on inconclusive grounds of Al Gore and his
"Growing Consensus" The smell of Fortunes and Power and Greed are the only driving motivation.(did I mention Stupidity, Ignorance and Envy, yea, they still think Bush stole the election)
The decision to inact the Cap & Trade Bill might rest in the hands of the US Senate and House of Congress. But the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change UNFCCC is set to begin this December I believe.

The blame was brought on George Bush 43 for not signing onto the Keyoto Agreement, but he realized the cost it would inpose on the Industries that are the basic motors for economic growth of this Nation and the World.

It seems strange since the politicians supposedly work for us, they are always telling us what we want or need. Most employers that I worked for would tell you to hit the streets if you started telling them what they needed. More and more I do not trust our "employees" in Washington and I think it is time to send them to the streets. The old saying "Do As We Say, And Not As We Do", certainly characterizes this Government. They speak of cutting back, but none have cut their spending to a reasonable level. I don't recall being asked if my plane could be used for a trip. It's time to clean house and get "employees" that realize that they work for us, not the other way around.
