"Let me emphasize something very strongly as we begin this discussion. The United States has already this year alone achieved a 6 percent reduction in emissions simply because of the downturn in the economy, so we are effectively saying we need to go another 14 percent."The co-author of the newest incarnation of the devastating energy tax has made it clear: The downturn in the economy is a good thing, and we need to make it even worse. In fact, by Senator Kerry's logic, we would need to make the economy more than twice as bad as it currently is in order to meet the goal of Boxer-Kerry (or is it Kerry-Boxer?)

Let me just expand on this brilliant left wing sect thought process for just a minute. First, John how much CO2 is produced by Ketchup? manufacturing fertilizer, fuel etc. Second Barbara, how much CO2 is produced by hundred thousand acre fires because you have implemented a union beauracracy in your state and driven it so bankrupt you cant afford to put the fires outnot to mention stop the crime that starts them. People the solution to the problems here is MOST DEFINITLEY EDUCATION REFORM. as has been reflected by these two morons who could not understand how this country was built and succeded if they went to caltech and MIT for the next 20 years, Oh wait those schools are in their homestates. hhmmm wonder what they will be teaching? import management.
I agree 100%

I think the republicans will have a difficult fight for the presidency if you dont address secular humanism _ im not anti religion but you are shutting the door to an elightened growing segment of this country.
I hope Dr. Gilchrist that you are not insinuating that those who are not secular humanists are not enlightened. I believe a person is entitled to worship, or not, as they wish and most christians I know feel the same way. I find persons who don't believe in religion more prejudiced and agitated by Christians and have witnessed those from the left immediately refer to people who believe in religion as ignorant or crazy. We do not need to address religion or the lack therof when talking about our federal government. What we do need to discuss is whether our constitution is being trampled and because of this, I do not think the republicans will have trouble regaining a foothold in our government. The question remains as to whether the people are getting through to the republicans that they need to behave like conservatives. The right wing won't tolerate another Bush era.
It's ironic that as secular humanism increases in our country that our country's condition becomes more dire. Drive all the Christians into the sea and then whom will you blame for all the country's woes, Dr. Gilchrist? You haven't seen anything yet compared to the calamity just over the horizon as the "enlightened ones" re-direct this country along a path to destruction. But, don't take my word for it, just be patient.
It must be really nice to be so wealthy that the intentional destruction of the economy is just an insignificant detail. I wonder how many Massachusetts residents who have to support their families with "real" jobs, are going to vote for John Kerry next time around. Does John Kerry have a clue as to what his comment means to the average, non-governmentally employed (or unemployed) American? Unreal!
