Obama Administration Defends (and Redirects) Stimulus Failure

recovery-act.pngThe most recent news in the ongoing "how much has the stimulus failed?" saga is that the Obama administration's Recovery Act tracking website includes nonexistent congressional districts receiving billions of dollars, and a report shows that some 60,000 jobs claims were exposed as fraudulent.

Well, the Obama White House has fired back...by downplaying the major errors and even blaming Americans for the problems.

Ed DeSeve, a special advisor to President Obama, addressed the numerous reporting errors with three main points:

  • There are mistakes, but the real job creation numbers are actually double whatever you see reported.
  • Being unable to track data with accuracy shouldn't concern you.
  • These errors actually are a big concern, but at least it's all transparent!
It's a hopelessly inadequate response to a major problem: A $787 billion program has failed to "stimulate" the economy, and the truth about its impacts has been distorted by the White House itself.

They also passed the blame on to those reporting the numbers, which I suppose is easier than actually addressing their own failure to fact check and hold themselves accountable.  DeSeve writes:
Some filers, working with the new system, punched in the wrong Congressional district, and some just got the data wrong.
The problem with this scapegoat is that many of the examples of distorted jobs numbers include details about how the filers were actually complying 100% with reporting requirements, which we have detailed in our state-by-state analysis. The real problem was that reporting requirements forced people to report jobs as being "saved or created" even when they weren't.

That's not the fault of the people filing the data. It's the fault of the Recovery Act reporting system specifically and, ultimately, the Obama administration itself for using it.

Despite the Obama administration's attempts to whitewash a failed program with manufactured statistics and a complete rejection of the real unemployment situation in the country, Americans know that the stimulus has been an abject failure.

Redirecting blame or bragging about minor details will not change the all-too-important fact that the stimulus did not deliver the jobs that we were promised.

Again, another article criticizing the Liberals. I don't see any solutions here! This article is an irrelevant waste of time.

NOBODY needs convincing that the Liberals in power constantly lie. We KNOW this.

NOBODY needs convincing that the Liberals in power are fudging the numbers. We KNOW this.

NOBODY needs convincing that the Liberals in power are criminal thugs. We KNOW this.

Why do we need more convincing?

Why did the author waste his time, my time, and your time writing this article?

And we don't have a lot of time, folks! There is one year until the 2010 elections.

Do you think that the solutions that are supposed to unify Conservative, Independent, and moderate voters are just going to magically appear on the day before elections?

No, they won't.

We need to start working on those solutions NOW! And we need to stop writing this inane criticisms of the left because it is a waste of time!

First, we need to examine why all these tea parties have sprung up this year.

Second, we need find the solutions that will tap into that source of pent up fury and focus that all that electoral energy.

Third, we then need to communicate those solutions to our friends, family, representatives, and political leaders so that on election day, (1.) everyone who is voting KNOWS who and what to vote for and (2.) the candidates who are being voted for KNOWS what they better be offering.

American Solutions, we get it. The Liberals are bad. Now, let's stop writing these useless articles and get to some substance.

Let's write some articles about what we obviously care about. Hmmm...Tea Parties seem to be happening all over the place so let's start there.

I'd like to see more articles on tax reform. And we might as well start with the ONE proposal that has the most support, which is the Fair Tax. Your readership does not even know your position on the Fair Tax, so let's start there, okay?

it takes a man to admitt he was wrong but president Obama cant admitt that his stimulus plan didnt work! i knew it want going to work by looking at pres FDR plan and the JapN PLAN BOT HAVE NEVER EVERR WORKED.
